Shelley: Caesar was one of my favorites. Perhaps you don't like the characters? Another one you could try is Death of a Doxy. Stout also has several collections of short stories with Nero and Archie.
I read about Dr Metzger. It was funny. (Oh and violent too, but quite funny.) Dr Metzger is a cat, see, and he has this Dog...heh heh heh. I think Rio should check it out.
I have been happily rereading some Nora Roberts from the late 1980's. I also just read Cluny Brown by Margery Sharp. (1944)
Some Buried Caesar is the book where Archie meets Lily. Lily becomes an ongoing character in that series. It is important because of that. Otherwise I was not as enamored of it as some of the other Stout's.
Hey B, Have you ever read any B J Chute? One of my favorite books of all time is her book 'Greenwillow'. I was named one of the 10 best books of the 1950's but I have no idea by whom.
Because I live away from my private library several months a year the kindle is sounding more and more interesting. Also I could download public library books on it.
Maybe I will have to cave. It is sooooo heavy to move books back and forth.
Nancy: The new Kindles are so much cheaper than the first generation Kindle. My new one is the 3G Wireless which means I can not only read books, but I can check my email and any blogs that are on my Google Reader wherever there is a cell phone tower or wifi. (I'm not expert in these last two yet! I'm still reading the guide.)
I'm reading Dr. Metzger's Dog. It's okay, not anything I would recommend.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading "Some Buried Caesar" by Rex Stout, for quite some time now. I can't seem to get through that thin book.
ReplyDeleteJudith: What is Dr. Metzger's Dog all about?

Nancy: I think you should suggest to Rio that he read the Dr. Metzger just don't tell him about the cat. Heh! (Shelley: Don't give it away.)
ReplyDeleteI've read Nora Roberts...a long time ago...but can't remember any titles. I've never of Margery Sharp. I'll check it out.
